    Levernside Av this is just behind Gertrude Pl I recall trying to play games badly when this was a framers field. Yes I was young once and I can recall doing all sort of things some of us should just think back before we condemn our present day youth.

Tomorrow I will be at a meeting about the Still Game this is about trying to keep active. I will post on this soon.

The most important part of my calendar for next week will be on Wednesday when the meeting will be about  energy efficiency / affordable warmth I hope to be able to post a lot more on this issue.

This is the inside of the derelict factory off Gladstone Av Barrhead I have left the date tag on jut to show just how long this situation has been in place. I do know that East Renfrewshire Council ( E R ) had contact with the people who may be responsible for the property but this situation is only attracting people to use this unit for antisocial behaviour.  

As the school holidays are on us youngsters being young will be out & will explore I hope the premises will be resurrected.This was one of the issues raised during our estate walk around.

Early next week we will be arranging the new estate walk around in the Gateside area. We will cover the zone soon to prepare a summery of issues.

Some people question the value of the walk about. However during the last one we highlighted what may be the worst of our flats.This block is in multi ownership and is a prime example of issues that can arise I hope to be able to post a detailed report on the issues providing it dose not intrude in to peoples privacy.

Also raise during the walk around was the vexing issue of the pavement in Blackwood St.

                  
I am concerned that some vulnerable person will have a bad trip and sustain injury.This issue has been highlighted in the report that E R management staff issued after our walk about.

This is just a short summery of the issues raised I hope to be able to issues a posting of some sort of action plan.

                           Well that is the estate walk around completed all wet better than the past.  
                                                     I hope for some good feed back.
       I will be arranging a walk about in the Gateside area soon & hope for some action there.
      On an other slant I will be at a meeting about things to so to keep the over 50s fit & well.      

          I am up early to check things for today's estate walk around I hope the weather improves.  

          I wish to thank the good people who contacted us with input & this will be passed along..
                                           One area of concern was dog fouling.

I have prepared a short summery issues that require attention for our estate walk around.

1. Pot holes in all our roads.

2. State of unsafe pavements.

3. Dog mess on pavements & in our park

4. State of retaining wall in Barnes St at park.

5. Speed bumps require repair.

6. Retaining wall rendering at flats in Gertrude Pl

7. Roofing and rendering in all areas

8. Foot path at top of Gertrude Pl, Dalmeny Dr.

There will be a walk around arranged for Gateside area soon & we will post info.

On Wednesday I was down at a meeting in Voluntary Actuation. It is hoped to bring various activates together for the benefit of all disadvantaged, infirm & housebound.Any ideas what anyone in this situation would like please inform us.

On Tuesday I was out getting notes for our estate walk around.This will take place with council staff and other people from our area.  I hope for some results this time.

I was approached by several people from the area about our association and what is going to happen with our wee hall.

   We will be arraigning a public meeting during August 2013 I will be arranging speakers and will post soon.

I would like to be able to bring things to both the park in Dalmeny & the play area in Gateside. I hope that some of the people who live here will assist. We can assist in obtaining any checks that may be required.

This is a much under used facility I am sure that when the park was gifted to the people of this area it was in the belief that it would be well used. Other parts of Barrhead see improvements we could have the same.
                             This requires some input from people living in our wee bit.

Well just back from the unveiling of the armed services flag. Pleasant afternoon I believe most people enjoyed day .

I had to smile on the way into the council main offices I observed liter bin chained to a lamppost I do wonder why.

Also we have completed matters at the bank & all should be sorted out next week.

Monday is with us again as stated I will be off to Council head office for the raising of the armed service day flag. I often wonder why there is no flag poll at the local offices in Barrhead?.
 
Just jumped out of my skin postie has just delivered more mail, more to do with the housing lesion group.

I have had several E Mails asking about little bird this photo was taken at Kilmarnock railway station around 2004 when I was traveling down for work. I believe bird never left station. The little thing would just walk up and down platforms 2/3 waiting to be fed.

Just sitting down after a bit of a tide up & breakfast to watch the usual Sunday morning T V programs.
 
I am also looking around the web for inspiration for things to bring to our community.I would encourage all internet users to change passwords on a regular basis.

What is the way forward for our local community some other groups are going to improve their area we could do this too. But we need more people. Around mid August we will be arranging a meeting in our wee hall        

 

Next Tuesday I have been invited to attend a meeting in Voluntary Action.

This is called seniors together. 

I will post any feed back on anything that comes out of the meeting.

Hi I am just having breakfast before going out going out to my other thin in the third sector. I am not complaining but just counted up the time I like other's spend with the third sector. I also spoke to  a contact  also in the third sector. We compared time spent an the average time was around 34 hrs.

Some time next week we will complete arrangements about the bank account.I will post information on this in dew coarse.

As posted together with the rep from Gateside we will be looking what can be done to improve both parts of East Renfrewshire (E R ).

This part of E R is missing out this is in part dew to lack of support from some people. We will try to improve this area and make it good place to live in.

I have been down at bank to sort out the association account still have a few thing to do but all is in good order .

It is easy to misunderstand things. People who should know better are laboring under some strange ideas.

I have been having a look at a few things that are being planed for the over 50's. Although from the third age I think we should also be planing more for all excluded people.There are still to meany people being excluded from enjoying life.

I have been attending various meetings in Voluntary Action everything is at the early consultation stage so not much to post.

   

Strange times e mail revived.I have received invitation to attend armed forces day flag unavailing at East Renfrewshire Council Head Office. I will be accepting this as on a personal level I had two older cousins killed when the did their national service. These were two guys as a young boy I looked up to. I understand that some people my not agree about the day but it is my way of remembering them.

On other matters we will be making arrangements to change the signatories for the bank account. as together with the new rep from Gateside we will have some expense when booking and running meetings one of which will be held mid August .This action is taken after consultation with East Renfrewshire Council.
Accounts & balances can be checked at any reasonable time.

We will be having public meetings on a regular basis and will be published in the usual manner.



 

Good morning gang I have revived an invitation  to at a meeting down at Voluntary Action . This is all about arranging things for older people and what can be done to secure a good life style. Also insure no one  is left to suffer in isolation and having to bare the treble curse of loneliness.

Latter on to day I will be having a meeting within the council offices to make the proper arrangements in relation to the old Dalmeny T R A's bank account .I will post information about the meeting A S A P.

In the mean time together with the new rep from the Gateside  area we will continue to look after any issues you may wish to raise on your behalf..

Well that was perhaps the best training meeting for a long time we covered lots of thing and to day was only the start. I will not bog you down with the details but it was a bit of an eye opener.

We covered the way forward for the new Federation. You will recall that this is an umbrella group of various tenant groupings with in East Renfrewshire ( E R).

                I found it interesting to have thing that I had  forgotten brought back to me.

                    The only thing was there was more paper work to digest and take in.




 

Well the view from blogger towers is going to improve. We have been informed that work will start soon on the block of void flats in Kerr St. It was a sore point when I looked out from my kitchen, I would be using counter top and look out at the sight of empty flats and just sigh.

I had a go at a 5 way on line conversation yesterday. I met old friend and had a link up with peer grouping palls in various part of the globe.

                                    Even one on a ship in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.  

It make me think is this the way forward for meetings within the T R A movement. During our conversation is came to light that one of the contacts uses this in his parish work in Wales where he is now based.
     
    

On  Wednesday we will be attending a meeting with all other representative from across East Renfrewshire (E R )to secure the way forward for tenant representation. It is important that we secure a group on firm grounds.

There are 32 council's in Scotland can this situation remain ?. It is possible that there will be some sot of .review of the amount of council's. There is argument that it dose not make economic to have so many administrations.

As posted last week Gatside & Dalmeny will be working together for the benefit of our extended area.

I would like to revive some sort of garden & sports projects. We will ask  E R for any help possible.
I also have had discussion's with some people & organisation's about funding. It may be possible to get some small amounts from external  groups and people. This will not be E R if you know any source of funding let us know.

   On Thursday I will be attending a meeting in Voluntary Action (V A ). There are various projects in draft about what to do to resolve the lack of social inclusion in E R. I will post information when I can

Well time moves on. I have had a few ideas about who to ask to come to our next public meeting which should be sometime if in August. At this time the suggestion is for some one from the warden's service & cleansing.

The  proposal is for at least two public meetings each year I hope to be able to arrange four bot that will depend on arranging people to come and give a presentation.

Although the association has now closed down some of us will still be in contact  with Barrhead Housing ( B H ) &  East Renfrewshire Council (E R ) and attending various meeting as local representatives.  

The Scottish housing regulator requires all social landlords to  engage with all tenants. Both B H & ER comply with this statuary requirement.

I was having a quick look at the Scottish Housing Regulator's web site a good view and an easy read.

  

  

Friday afternoon found us off to the annual day conference of the federation of local housing Association. At this conference was at the invitation of the Barrhead Housing Association. At this event I was joined by a fellow rep from Auchenback. this was a good day and there were various workshops. Although I was not allocated to the one on welfare the subject of the bedroom tax came up at workshops that had no relation to the subject.

One of the workshops was on how the work of the Scottish Housing Regulator &  the inspections they carried out. I was interesting to observe how things are working out. It confirms that all the time we spent on the draft & consultation was worth it.

I will be sitting down to think of a plan for the public meeting we will be calling throughout the year.

Well to day together with other tenants reps from Barrhead I attended the 4th annual tenants conference of the Cunningham Housing Association. (C H A )

This was one of the better conferences I have been privileged to attend.

After the warm welcome by the chairman of the association Mr R Richards we were given a review of the previous year by the chief executive  Mr F A Sweeney

The first presentation was from Sahara Hammond from the local Citizens Advice . This presentation highlighted the various issues in the area all of which are just what we see hear in East Renfrewshire (E R )

 C H A's asset manage  Mr L Watters gave the report on asset management. This is much the same as most other social housing providers.

 Now the important part of the day lunch.
 
Paul Clark an energy consultant  gave an presentation on energy C H A have asocial enterprise called Citrus Energy. One of the main points of this presentation was to get people on to the best and off the high cost card meters.

The final presentation was from Age Scotland by Heather Baillie this was a first class talk which sent us rushing  to collect a range of booklets. We will pass them along to our fellow reps from Shear.I believe they will find them of interest.

We were then treated to entertainment from a local school (Winton Primary Choir )

Then Naomi Breeze's new play about welfare reform.  
          
            

Well at yesterdays meeting with regret it was agreed that the association would be wound up. It was agreed that with others I would continue to attend as a rep for our area. As you will see I have changed the title page. We will be working in close contact with a tenants from Gateside.

   We will be arranging various public meetings through the year with speakers on a range of topics.

                                  So watch this space & I will fly in with more information.

At the meeting the previous  A G M minute was approved. The accounts were audited and approved.

Other matters raised were about fly tipping  at the garages up in Gateside together with dog fouling. This vexing matter will be taken up with cleansing. Together with our rant about the subject yesterday.

It was mentioned about the cost of special uplifts and was noted. However the current cost dose not cover the cost. I dislike the charge as much as anyone & I hope this is changed as  this charge only results in more fly tipping. Why I fail to understand a the council unit is open at reasonable times. Also there  is ReUseit .
