Do not be like this if you are having issues with welfare reform please do not think will go away. Are you involved in the '' bedroom tax'' and are a tenant of  East Renfrewshire Council ( E R ) or Barrhead Housing  ( B H ) . Please get in contact with your housing office A S A P . If you wish any help get in contact with us we will be only to happy to attend any meeting  with you. So do not think you are alone .

You can also get in speak to the Citizens Advice ( C A B ).

                          It is not like this we are with you and will do all we can to assist .

         Also in this cold weather look after each other it is so important that  we help each other .

 On Tuesday I will be at a meeting down in the council offices in regard to the federation. I trust we can revive something .

In the meantime are we all keeping warm.

Over the next few weeks it will be interesting to see how much harm will be done to vulnerable people with all the changes that are coming in the welfare system. The other week I saw a welfare worker with a client.The worker was trying to remind the client that they had no food in their home and perhaps they should not be buying something that they already had.I have reservations about paying the likes of housing benefit direct to people some people just cannot manage their money. We only have to look at people who are in work & earning a good wage that are now taking out some form of dept restructuring.  There again look at the people who are in work and  exit on heir overdrafts.

            It should be displaying fair at this time of year. I trust that I find you all well and warm. 

 At this time the unfortunate in our community do feel lonely. Wit a little effort we can make  a difference just by asking the simple question how are you.

On Tuesday I will be attending a meting in the council offices in telat5ion to the East Renfrewshire tenant's & residents federation . This is an umbrella group for all other association's and interested groups in East Renfrewshire (E R ). I will post back on this soon.

On the 19th April 2013 there will be an estate walk around with representatives from E R. I will post more information as this date approaches.

   

Well the budget has been given out most of us involved in the tenant / resident movement will have a view on the funding for people trying to buy. We know just how low wages.. People are finding it hard to make ends meet with cuts to working hrs.  .

I see that the amount of dog fouling is getting as bad ever. Our little ones cannot be taken to the park because of the mess left.

Monday earning saw the meeting of housing lesion group which was attended by representatives from various parts of East Renfrewshire ( E R ) A few points wee cleared up and as a group we have requested up dates  on how the benefit changes are affecting all residents in E R I will report back when I have any update.

I have once again raised the issue of the block of much needed homes in Kerr St that have been empty for some time. This block was under repair and for various reasons there has been a hold up.I have been informed that the council are taking legal advice.We all know how slow the legal system works so I will not hold my berth

   With all the welfare cots that are coming do you need help please get in contact with your local C A B or if you live in East Renfrewshire contact money first at he council office. Should you be a council tenant or a tenant of Barrhead Housing  and require advice or help please contact above.departments.

                Please do not vent any anger at the staff on the front line it is not their fault.

                                        In the past we have posted about fly tipping.

  We have informed you about Re use-it it interesting to read the E R news letter that Re Use-it have diverted 93.7 tonnes from land fill. This has an impact in reducing charges our council has to pay on land fill charges.

On Friday I was at the official launch of the Still Game down at St Mirren training ground all wet well it I will posts few photos soon.

  The much needed work on improving our area is under way at long last. I hope to see the area return to what it once was.

On the 14th I will be down at Voluntary Action Kelburn St Barrhead for the memory lane event the event this time is photography.This should be fun so cone along it runs fro 1 pm until 3 pm.

Yesterday I attended a half day conference regarding the care for our elderly all went well and lots of good points came out. I can only hope for improvement.

Please remember that on the 14th there is the memory lane event down in  Voluntary Auction (V A ). This starts at pm as usual It will be of interest that there will be a collection point for the new food bank which is  opening soon in Barrhead I hope to be able to post information soon I understand tins & non permissible goods can be handed in to V A .

The still game thing went well I will post more latter on as I am off out.

Just having a look at my calender for next week a few meetings of which I will report back on. On Friday I will be at the last of the current Still Game program run more on this soon.

On the 18th March there is several interesting matters on the agenda not least the roofs & rendering .

Not got a lot to blog about just now. We will all start getting c tax bills in so please check to see that you are getting any rebate that you are dew. Play attention if you are coming up for state pension.
