The meeting about the tenants conference went well to day and there will only be a few things that will require attention we will post  the date & al list of what's on when we have the final list. We hope for a good response on the day. If this a success this may be an annual event. Our regular readers my recall I have attended several one day events all of which were good and worth while.

 
I have been approached about the state of this wall. I have referred the issue to East Renfrewshire Council. I will post any feed back I receive.

Wedensday News A Bit Early

On Wednesday morning we will be a meeting with East Renfrewshire Council (E R ) to discuss the forthcoming Tenements Conference. The council E R propose that the venue will be the Council civic room's main street Barrhead. It is also proposed that the conference will be held by mid October 2013. It is hoped that the finer point.s will be sorted out and we can move forward to having a good productive day. We trust that the conference will be well attended.

For all our local's in Dalmeny you will have received your letter about the changes to bin collection I see that when I look out from bloger towers the new bins have been delivered..I hope they are used properly.

                     Over the coming weeks there will be various things coming to voluntary Action some my be of interest to you.We will post information as soon as we are made aware of what is on.

We will be arranging a meeting in our wee hall some time during August at which I hope to invite several members of E R staff from various departments to inform and advise on a range of issues. I shall try to have someone in attendance to advise about energy issues. This is a major issue and of concern to lots of people in the mean time if you have any concerns please contact E R's money first for advice. please do not leave it until it is too late.

News for Saturday

                                                      This is our weather changing al the time .

I must get out and about and up date pictures of our wee area I would like to do a now and then. All the remedial work will be starting in our area soon. It will be nice to see the changes.

Next week we will be attending a meeting with East Renfrewshire Council (E R ). This is about how E R communicates with it's customers. This includes residents, tenants, people on the common housing register & any other interested group or individual. If you have anything to ask please get in contact with us.

Wet all over

Just back from the recycling unit in a certain supermarket car park. It is amassing to see all sorts of people turning up at this unit.

The Gateside estate walk around has been confirmed for 1.30 pm on the 6th of August starting from 2/4 Gateside Cr. All welcome if you have any issues contact us before the date. This will enable us to provide a summery for people attending..

Just reading the on line Sunday's news papers it makes me weep. Most are just spinning their paymasters line.little real news.

            On T V just now talking about poverty and how it is on the up. As if we did not know .

Just had a quick word with our local councillor I have high hopes in reviving our local group.Some people are now seeing that one is needed. I have some who may join up and assist.

Looks like a nice day do not forget to watch your water intake.Please look in on any venerable person near you . Any person who is infirm may not be able to get up and get a drink of water.

I have prepared a list of concerns for the Gateside area and I hope they will be aired at the walk around which has been provisionally arranged for the 6th august at 1330. I will post more on this soon.

This morning on the T V a lot was said about the weather but not enough about insuring that vulnerable people are receiving all the assistance they require.

You may have seen the news about the panic over the hot weather.As you will recall during the winter we posted about looking in on vulnerable people well the same applies during this hot spell.

It is sad that we all seem to have went in to our one small world's and ignore the people who live near us .

Morning Rant

 

Last night I was at a meeting  down at Barrhead Housing (B H ) this as usual proved to be a good one. We were pleased to be informed of just how well they were dealing with  issues arising from the bed room tax and all the other cuts. 

We will post soon when we have information from East Renfrewshire Council ( E R) I just hope there is a good response.

If you live in E R & are a tenant of B H or ER and have difficulties with rent on any other issue please contact your rent office and do not hope it will go away .

If you wish someone to go with you we can help as can the Citizens Advice ( C A B ). We will treat anything you sat to us in confidence.

We also had a chat with  B H about the estate walk about's. Part of the feed back was about dog mess and fly tipping together with the cost of clean up.

I am saddened to think about the state of the health of some people in our community with all the cuts in benefits that are coming our way. I fear that some will be going to back street money lender's or pay day lenders.

I am glad to see the improvement  that has been made to our we bit of East Renfrewshire ( E R ) I hope it stays that way.

For Monday

Do you have any ideas about how to insure that anyone at risk dew to the changes in benefit payments revives the help they are dew to receive.

Some people will not be able to cope. One of the main issues will be direct payment's I see some people just spending their payment's in a reckless manner. The other week in a Post Office I was in the Q just in front on me a relative was having a hard time getting the vulnerable person to pay bills & not spend the cash on junk.

I fear for the most vulnerable people out in our community.

Saturday morning news

Yes back to fly tipping if you revive the East Renfrewshire Council ( E R )  housing new letter you will see that they have run yet another comment about this issue. Your bloger is getting a bit to big in the head by getting  photos published in such an exclusive and  prestigious publication.

Do not get caught the fine is more than the special collection from E R or you could call not ghost busters

Back to the real world people are having a hard time paying for everything if you are having issues paying please contact E R's customer first they will do everything they can to help but you must make the first move.
Do not put yourself in danger of being homeless.

Regular readers will have read my comment about old friend (Tory fund raiser ) yesterday friend a bit upset about the need of a food bank in  E R. A sad state we are in if you can spare a few can's or dried goods they can be left at the food bank's office at Under Cover in Kelburn St Barrhead.

Away Day

Well I am off down to Kilmarnock photo not to day but interesting to note the changes in braiding.When I arrived at or station in Barrhead I saw the Virgin Train standing on the platform I was carried back years when all sorts of trains passed  through Barrhead.

   Arriving in Kilmarnock I have travelled there for many years and have seen lots of changes including the demolition of the Jonny Walker factory. I was down visiting a contact in the tenants residents movement a good visit as contact works part time in a a gaffe the do a nice brunch.

Just before I left the mail arrived confirming all the changes to the bank account for our association has been processed an all is in order.

Yes it looks like a nice day. Who says we do not get discounts I have had the notion to get one of these small tablets, Yesterday I treated myself to one. Asked if there was any discounts especially for an old cranker part like your bloger. Well I got a tenner off.Then I  had a nice cold coffee & a salmon bagel. l

Early Blog

I am happy to see that we are going to be involved in the mixed tenure project this is a one off expenditure of
£ 500.000. At this time it is only for one year there is hope that funds can be found to continue on a year to year basis.

During the consultative process we requested that grass cutting and general close clean take place. We also have submitted a proposal that all the old bin shelters be demolished & replaced with a new paved area for bins. The old bin shelter were built long before the current refuge system was put in to place.

Some of this was a result of our estate walk around others were part of our response to a draft consultation on how the £500.00 should be spent .Please remember that this amount is for all of East Renfrewshire (E R) if we had direct control we could spend the lot in one street in Dalmeny. I am happy we have received something as there is demand from  the rest of E R.All I ask is for fairness all round.

I have been looking at external funding for our wee hall this is long and drawn out we cane live in hope.

Latter on to day I will be going out to start the estate workaround preparation. I hope to have something to post. As you will see when you revive your housing news that East Renfrewshire Council ( E R )will be spending £500.000 on mixed tenure housing. I hope the spend will improve housing in E R

I hope everyone is taking care during this heat wave & do not forget heat issues can be as bad in warm weather ad during cold times..

To day after the bin collection I have concern at the way bins are left after collection. We have to place them agents the wall. The council staff just leave them anywhere often blocking the foot path.

 

Well a nice day cut grass at back of bloger towers. Glad I do not suffer from all the various ailments. Only thing is I must be off my head to the amount of time I am spending doing research is getting out of hand .
 It is worth noting that for every hour that is spent in the third sector has a money/cash value of around £14.00.

T V comment

I have been watching  T V  & reading the on line papers there have been several comments about Mr Salmond & others waving the Saltire at a resent sports fixture. This has brought me to comment a few weeks ago I had the privilege to attend the raising of the Armed Forces flag up at the council main offices. I was somewhat saddened to see the state of the flag polls one was leaning to the side. Yes things are bat and there has to be cuts however I think something could be done about them.

VIEW FROM BLOGGER TOWERS

  New view from blogger towers a short time ago I had  a visitor asking what was I going  about the bins lying on the pavement.?. My reply  *~#% ##%.. This person believed that it was my responsibility to deal with this situation.  Yes this is a bad situation but it is up to the people who live around this block to sort it out.
                                                      Rant over so have a good Sunday.

The car lookups in Gateside there has been concern about the state of the units. This is one of the issues that will be assessed during the walkabout on 6:7:2013 at 1330hrs.. I will post more information before this date.
 
How do you like this weather please do not forget any vulnerable person out there this heat can be just as bad as the cold. Take care when out.

We hope to be able to arrange for skips to be put out to enable people to deposit rubbish to big for their bins I hope that it will stop fly-tipping.

     
Some one has to clean this up this takes time and is unpleasant and can be dangerous. It also hits all of our pockets as some one has to pay and that person is you.

Just back from usual thing on a Saturday. I stopped off  at our local super market I see that they are bout to start an update. They claim that there will be little disruption well we shall see. I hope that there will be a better choice & as promised more fresh food. I trust that after the refit we will  be able to buy fresh food in small units.

                       The big yellow thing in the sky is called the sun. I thought you should know.
 We have wonderful parks around East Renfrewshire ( E R ) most are underused. Yesterday I was cutting through our wee park & heard screams but it was only a small kid out with mother having a good time out.
The sad thing was there was only the two of them. About this time last year I was out visiting the people next door to friends house had the  T V out in the path way & kids were sitting on the door step playing some sort of game. I only know this as I had to pass them to get to door of friends the T V was sitting on the communal path way.

The point of all this is about the use of our parks & in the main our one wee park. There is much that could be done but only with your input I have posted before that we need families to come out and help save our parks & halls. We can assist in obtaining any Protection of vulnerable groups (P V G ) checks, this is a legal requirement when running any activity.A P V G is the follow on from the enhanced disclosure Scotland. People should understand that a P V G is there to protect any group that requires protection.

On Thursday 11th July 2013 down in Voluntary Action the them of the Memory Lane event will be cycling. Come along and enjoy the after noon.Starting time is 1 pm .

More ranting

Just back from the local supermarket where there is a collection for the newly formed food bank (F B ) here in East Renfrewshire (E R ). I feel saddened that the there is a need for a food bank in E R. The collection's will take place to day & to morrow in our local Tesco. Please buy and give something even if it is only a tin of value beans or soup.This wonderful food bank will help people out there who are in need with the new benefit's system coming in some people will find hard to cope. The leaflet from the F B tells of a family borrowing a tin of soup to feed their child .The food bank has offices in Voluntary Action where donations can be left at any time the office is open.

       I have received word of the provisional date for the first ever estate walk around in Gateside.

.    This date is pencilled in for Tuesday 6th August 2013 at 1330. Before this we will conduct a short survey of the area to prepare for walk around. The walk around ads some value and may assist in improvements being made..

Meeting about the new Barrhead High.

I understand that there is going to be some sort of a meeting down in the Conan park to night.

I would like to understand what is happening to the park as to the best of my understanding it was a gift to the people of Barrhead. My reason is I have concern about all the parks in East Renfrewshire ( E R ).This include our wee park. It has came to my attention that elsewhere not  E R that parks & halls are being disposed of as part of the current austerity that is being enforced on local administrations.

As posted last week we visited the local branch  holding our association's bank account. We have not received conformation about the change in who is authorised to operate the account.I have therefore contacted the banks trustee department who are responsible for account's like ours they have assured me that the paper work is being completed and we will receive a reply next week.

More ranting

  Hi yesterday at the meeting in the council office the topic was fuel poverty one of the figured put out was that around £2bn plus of pension credit had not been claimed/paid. As pension credit is one of the main stays  of the benefit safety net. I Question how many people who are now in their senior years are not claiming their  entitlement's.I do accept that some people abuse the system and take something that they are not entitled to there is however one point the £2bm plus mirrors the amount that is claimed to be lost through benefit fraud.

As the £2bn is from official figures I ask how much is not paid/claimed to people in real need.Most are people who are struggling to exist for various reason's and most are not what the far right wing of our society refer to as scroungers.

     I have just picked up a flyer from the University of The Third Age looks interesting it covers a wide range of topics & I will post more soon.  
         
We hope to arrange the walk around in Gateside early August 2013 & hope it will be held like the rest of East Renfrewshire.
