It's the weekend.

I am saddened to see a local is very ill and has had to sleep on sofa. This person was unable to get up the stairs to bed. I have asked and I am assured that all dew help & assistance is being put in place. I will be keeping in contact.

Wedensday morning news

For many years we have had  small bank account this account has been dormant for around two years. We have made the discussion to close the account & return remaining funds to East Renfrewshire Council ( E R )
The funds came from   E R as a grant & it is correct that all unused funds are returned. After account is closed the books audited and account book will be open for inspection. All paper work & account will be archived by E R.

I have been informed that the information on the cost of the wall will be released to me on the return of the council officer responsible.

The Steps

 I have contacted East Renfrewshire Council (E R )  about the sad fact that council staff are bumping their heavy duty grass cutting equipment down the steps. True this was before the expensive repair was carried out but that is not the point. This cost lots of money which we cannot afford to pay out.

The next thing will be The Wall .

Sunday

I travelled in to Glasgow to day for brunch with friends our bid almost deserted of local's cars. When I got in to town saw several  cars from my street all in doing the Games. When I got in to Central Station I had a bit of a flash back to when as a wee boy my father took me in to see the crowds leaving for The Fair ( Glasgow annual holiday some call it trades ). At our usual eatery poor staff ran off their feet.

Had a right old moan about The Wall again to two  of our local councillors. That's two down  only two to go.

I hope to be seeking to one of  East Renfrewshire Council's ( E R ) councillors in the campaign of the summer. I would like to see action now before something happens.

    

I will be off to the Friday session of the Men's shed you can get information about this venue wish aims to get more involvement for us guy's ( the gal's can come too ) give it a chance

Hi All

Last night we had the  A G M of the East Renfrewshire tenants & residents federation (FED)This went well & after minor change the FED will continue for yet an other year. We require unity & no disparity times are hard & sad to say will get worse. However we will not de downhearted will we ?.

     Something must be done about the situation as this retaining wall may well be in an extremely dangerous condition. We ask again for a new survey of the situation. There is a possibility that peoples safety may be a risk.

The wall

Once again I have raised the alarming issue of this retaining wall. I have been assured that East Renfrewshire Council ( E R ) will have this wall re checked. I have urged urgent repair. This wall is a retaining wall and Barn St  is a major entry rout to parts of our area. For emergence services to access our area buy using the main rout through Barrhead could put lives at risk dew to potential delay.

This wall appears to be sinking in to disrepair by the day. If you wish to assist in the campaign to get repairs carried out  pleas contact E R council customer first on 0141 577 3001 or at the office in Main St Barrhead.

You may wish to contact our local councillor raise this issue with him. If this wall collapses it may put part of our park & hall at risk. This would depend on the scope of any land slip.

We do not wish cause any alarm but we wish to raise real concern.

Friday Morning

It is now the second week of the men's shed down in Cogan St. This is a worthwhile venture. I hope to have links by the end of the day & will post  any information.

Next week we will have the Queens Baton for the Commonwealth Games. This starts in Cross Aurthurlie St at 8.10 am on Wedensday the 16 July 2014.

As time goes by

Last night we attended a meeting with Barrhead Housing ( B H ). We were give information on their draft report to the Scottish Housing Regulator. As this is only on draft format we cannot post anything . All B H tenants should receive a final copy when ready.If you have any issues & are a  B H tenant please contact them @ their offices.

Monday Morning

Good morning all I hope all are keeping well. I will be chasing up the situation regarding the grass cutting & hedge trimming. I intend to push for the contractor's to have payment withheld until the work has passed satisfactory check. Why should we pay for work that may be substandard ?.





 Can you spare a few hours a mouth to come on board & help improve our area we require people to come on board please think about it.




This wall will be the main part of my campaign for repair.  



It's not long till the Queen's Baton passes through Barrhead then up to the less well known part of East Renfrewshire ( E R ) .It will the return to Barrhead for a doo down in the Cowan Park at 5pm ( 16 July 2014 ) You may still be able to get armbands from   E R offices. Why not give it a go should be a bit of fun.

Hi all not much to post to day I have received comments about  hedge cutting & grass trimming the last information I have is that a new contract has been put in place. I have e mailed about the hedges that have not been cut & the poor workmanship.I shall request an inspection & that payment is withheld until the work is satisfactory.

Yesterdays Adventure

Yesterday I was down at the men's shed down in in the training units in Cogan St Barrhead. A good 3 hrs we spent the time putting  a bench together. This was the first time in donkeys years that I have used tools other than a screwdriver.Next week we will be finishing task  then painting bench with out door preservative paint. The morning went so fast I forgot to take some photographs.

         I am continuing to pressure for action on the wall at our park in Baren St  Barrhead. Something will be done.

Hi all keeping active is important when we reach the third age. When we retire you could consider doing something by volunteering.

Voluntary Action have a range of things you may be interested in you can contact them on  0141 876 9555.

Or pop in and see them at their office in Kelburn St Barrhead.

Also you may wish to thing about Re Useit in Murial St Barrhead. They are looking for volunteers. If you are interested contact them on 0141 237 1646.

Doing some thing in the third sector can help yo fit an active.
